The Ghost that Captured "Looking for Trouble"

The Mystery Frame That Found Its Way to Forbidden Frames

Mysterious black and white boudoir photograph with bold words 'Looking for Trouble' across it. Unknown subject, unknown photographer, vintage aesthetic with deep shadows and striking contrast.

Captured by a Ghost Photographer and an Unknown Subject

It started with a simple delivery to the Believe in Boudoir office. Nothing unusual — until we opened the package. Inside was a single black and white photograph, no return address, no note, no explanation. Just an image that instantly felt like it belonged to another time... and perhaps, to Forbidden Frames itself.

The photograph was mysterious in every way. The subject? Unknown. The photographer? A complete mystery. The camera? Unidentified. But there are three things we do know: First, across the image in bold letters were the haunting words — “ for Trouble.", possibly "Looking for Trouble."Second, the 6x6 format of the print tells us it was shot on a medium format film camera using black and white film. And third, based on the postmark and timing, we know it came from somewhere in Europe, shortly after the conclusion of our Europe Boudoir Workshop Tour.

The image itself is raw, defiant, and cinematic — everything Forbidden Frames stands for. It captures a fleeting second that feels powerful and intimate, yet remains completely anonymous. We’ve tried everything to trace its origin, but no leads have surfaced. It arrived as mysteriously as the forgotten boudoir history we aim to resurrect.

Because of its striking presence and the spirit it carries, this photograph will be included in our upcoming book, Forbidden Frames: 100 Years of Recreated Boudoir Photography History. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the unknown finds its way into the stories we are trying to tell.

If you recognize the subject, the photographer, or even know the story behind this image — leave a comment and share your clues.
Until the mystery is solved, this frame will stand as a tribute to the lost, the daring, and the unseen artists of boudoir history.

Stay curious. Stay forbidden.
