Agfa Ansco Chief Meets the Nude Shores of Florida
2nd Nude Photography with Agfa Ansco Chief Captured by Yuliya Panchenko
Some challenges in life are designed to test your patience. Others test your skills. And then there's this one—an antique box camera, a nude beach in Florida, and a nearly $5000 mistake waiting to happen. Welcome to one of the wildest adventures yet in Forbidden Frames: 100 Years of Recreated Boudoir Photography History.
The Location: Nude Beach, Florida
For this Forbidden Frame, Yuliya Panchenko and model Rachel Paradiso made their way to the sunny, sand-swept coast of Florida—to a designated nude beach that is about as bold a backdrop as it gets for boudoir. The idea? Keep it raw, wild, and true to the roots of early 20th-century erotic photography. But things didn’t go according to plan!

First Attempt: Sun, Sand, and Exposure (the Wrong Kind)
Yuliya underestimated the exposure needed with such an old, untested camera. The first session, shot early in the morning, didn’t deliver usable images—underexposed, blurry, and misaligned due to misjudging film advance spacing and focusing distances. The camera felt more like a mischievous antique than a tool of art.
The verdict? Challenge not completed.
But unlike the usual rule where Yuliya must step in as the subject, there was a twist: she didn’t have to be nude—just bold enough to shoot in her bikini while Rachel returned, completely nude, for round two.

Second Attempt: Bikini Meets Boudoir
Determined to get it right, Yuliya suited up in her bikini, loaded fresh Ilford film (including PAN-F ISO 50 and FP4 ISO 125 for stronger sun coverage), and headed back to the beach. This time, she applied the Sunny 16 Rule with calculated precision, assuming the camera had an f/16 aperture and ~1/60s shutter speed.
Rachel? Fearless and radiant, baring all once again while the camera captured her against the sparkling ocean and shimmering sand dunes.
But just as things were flowing, they wandered a bit too far—accidentally crossing the line into a non-nude area of the beach. And the fine for public nudity? $5000.
The girls quickly made a U-turn, giggling like teenagers sneaking out of class, barely avoiding a run-in with authorities.

What the Camera Saw
Despite all its quirks, the Agfa Ansco Chief surprised everyone. With the sun at its peak, the images were soft, ethereal, and full of nostalgic charm. The motion blur of the ocean added a dreamy texture. The highlight? A near-perfect exposure with the ISO 125 film using the yellow filter—deepening the shadows and softening the glare from the sand.
Were the photos sharp? Not even close.
Were they beautiful? Absolutely.
This shoot proved that you don’t need precision, autofocus, or even clothes to create timeless boudoir art—just a daring model, a sunny day, and a camera older than your grandma’s sewing machine.

The Camera: Agfa Ansco Chief PB20
Manufactured between 1935 and 1941, the Agfa Ansco Chief PB20 is a medium format box camera with one goal: simplicity. With its fixed meniscus lens and just two focusing options—Near (6 feet) and Far (15 feet and beyond)—this humble camera feels like a relic from a time when photos were more guesswork than science.
This camera uses 620 roll film, which is just 120 film on a different spool, and offers only eight frames per roll. There’s no focus ring, no aperture dial, and certainly no light meter. You get two shutter modes: Instant and Bulb, and if you’re feeling fancy, there’s a built-in yellow filter perfect for high-contrast scenes. Basically, it’s photography’s version of “press and pray.”

A Little Bikini, A Lot of Tan Lines... and a Twist of Scandal
After spending the second session photographing Rachel in full nudity while wearing her own modest bikini, Yuliya walked away with more than just a successful shoot—she walked away with some seriously awkward tan lines. And for someone who lives behind the camera creating art from the human form, that just wouldn’t do.
So, in the spirit of artistic commitment (and maybe a dash of personal rebellion), Yuliya returned to the beach solo—not to photograph, but to experience the same freedom her models do. She disrobed, embraced the sun, and let the ocean winds carry away the last traces of her bikini-bound boundaries.
But here’s where it got messy.
Yuliya, now a well-known face among photographers in Florida—thanks to YouTube and her viral sessions—wasn’t exactly incognito. As fate (and Florida) would have it, a local paparazzi, probably passing by with a smartphone, snapped unauthorized photos of her nude retreat. The images were later published in a sleazy article on a gossip website we won’t dignify by naming here.
But here’s the thing: Yuliya didn’t hide. She didn’t apologize.
Because Forbidden Frames isn’t about shame—it’s about freedom, expression, and unfiltered truth. Her bold moment inspired more than it shocked. Artists, models, and photographers rallied around her, praising her vulnerability and courage in stepping into the same raw space she asks her muses to inhabit.
And just like that, a scandal became a statement. A sunburn became a badge of honor. And boudoir history was, once again, made under the Florida sun.
